If I were asked what the biggest prayer and desire of my heart and soul is, what my greatest longing is for 2018 it would be this….
To see many, many souls brought into or brought back into a really close walk with the Lord.
Honestly, my heart just aches with this longing for souls.
As many of you know I had a time of several years where I dawdled along in my christian path, distracted by the busyness of life, basically content with what life was offering me apart from the occaisional twinge of longing for that nearness to the Lord that I once knew.
God in His great love and mercy brought physical afflictions into my life and used it, along with these words
‘Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you .’ to bring me back.
Are you feeling in that half dead state spiritually, do you long to be in a closer walk with your God?
Friend, listen to what God is saying to you,
‘Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.’
Those desires are the Holy Spirit drawing you and if you want to be closer to the Lord you cannot just ignore that drawing, you need to draw near to God and He WILL draw near to you.
Friend how does God generally communicate with us? Through His Word.
And how do we communicate with God? Through prayer.
Then draw near dear friend, get quiet and LISTEN, pour out your heart before the Lord in prayer.
And remember, the last thing the enemy of your soul wants is for you to have that communion with God, and he will be working so very hard to distract you, will you let Him?
Oh, fight the enemy of your soul on your knees friend, ask for the discernment to recognise his lies and traps and once again fervently seek that close walk with your precious Redeemer.
Yes, it will mean sacrificing a little of your time, it may mean giving up a little of your evening to get to bed earlier so you can get up early to be alone with God, but what is giving up a little of our time for a loving Saviour compared to what Jesus gave up for us sinners?
Friend, there are incredible riches, great treasures to be found in the scriptures if we just take the time to dig deep and search for them! And the wonder of a closer walk with God is far above any earthly pleasure.
May this scripture be true of every beloved soul reading this…..
‘Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company SHALL return thither.
They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I WILL cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble:’
