Do you long for more grace and peace Friend?
Grace to be Christlike on the hardest of days and peace whatever your circumstances may look like? Surely this is where we will find true joy.
Peter says…
‘Grace and peace be multiplied unto you…’
Is this what we’re longing for?
If so, then how do we get this peace and grace?
‘…through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord…’
Everything! All things we need to follow Christ, all things we need to be like Christ, through this knowledge.
So what is knowledge of God and Jesus Christ?
This isn’t a knowing in our heads gained by intellectual learning friends, although that has its place, it won’t save us.
The knowledge talked about here is a knowing in our hearts.
It’s knowing God the Father as Our Father and Lord.
‘It’s knowing God the Son as Our Saviour and Redeemer, as Our Brother and Friend.
It’s knowing God the Holy Spirit as our Teacher, Helper and Comforter and all this knowing is by sweet experince and then out of that a precious following and living for our God alone…
‘According as his divine power hath given unto us ALL things that pertain unto life and godliness, THROUGH the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:’
So how does this knowing happen?
It’s through the working of the Holy Spirit and through sweet communion in prayer and through God’s word applied in our hearts. It’s as God teaches and leads and guides us. It’s as God pours out His love upon us and it’s through trials and correction, through flood and flame.
Then as God uses this knowledge to grow our intimacy with Him, we are given the divine power we need, through the Holy Spirit, for….’all things that pertain unto life and godliness,’ so that we may live our lives for and through the One who gave His life for us.
So once again friends, we see that this isn’t something we do by trying, it’s something we do by leaning into and upon Christ and by coming to know Him by the sweet experience of Him being in us and working in us and our lives.
The more we submit our lives to our Heavenly Father’s loving rule, the more we depend upon our God, the more we give up trying in our own strength, the more we will come to TRULY know Him. The more we will experience the grace and peace of our great God.
‘Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.’
When we truly KNOW God friends these exceeding great and precious promises become ours so that by them we might be parakeets of the divine nature, no longer ruled by our sinful old nature! What precious truth.
‘Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.’
‘BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD.’
