How’s your day been so far Friend?
Isn’t it just so easy to let our circumstances affect out day? A grumpy boss, squabbling children, an unkind word, being taken for granted, something not going as we hoped, that spilt coffee, all the things we still have to do getting on top of us and making us impatient at any interruptions? It can all so easily have a negative impact on our day.
This morning I began my day looking at this verse…
‘stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.’
Stand still Friend, pause for a few moments and consider.
Go to the door and breathe the fresh air, that air is one of God’s wonderful works as is that breath you just took.
Stand still and listen, see and feel His wondrous works.
Listen to the sound of the rain or feel the warmth of the sun on your face.
Listen to the breeze rustling through the trees and feel it caress your face.
Listen to the birds singing their Maker’s praise,…
Will You not do the same?
Friend, will You pause in the middle of the messiness of your day and praise your Creator, will you stop for a moment and praise Him for all His wonderful works even for those hard things?
‘Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward:’
God’s thoughts are towards us, in His sovereignty He allows these things that we might grow a little more like Him, if we will just pause and listen and learn. If we will seek for that wisdom from God.
Why?…
Because all ‘Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.’
Peace, even in the storm.
‘Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Why?…
‘For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.’
And because…
‘He hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.’
And…
‘He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.’
Also Friends because…
‘He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.’
Even Your wilderness Friend!
So friends, let’s take a moment to consider just how wonderful our great God is, let’s be praising Him even in the hard, in the mundane and in the middle of the mess because…
‘Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.’
Job 37:14, Psalm 40:5, Prov 3:17, Psalm 107:8, 9,16,29,35,43.
