Moses had a choice and we have a choice.
Who will we live for?
Our Self or our Saviour?
Moses chose…
‘rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;’
Why?
Because he esteemed ‘the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt:’
Friends, it’s so easy to live with our eyes fixed on today and tomorrow and the coming weeks, to live for this life forgetting that it’s but for a moment.
A little self sacrifice of the things in this life is nothing when you have your eyes fixed on eternity.
There is something far better than the pleasures of this life.
This phrase…’to enjoy the pleasures’ is translated from the Greek word ‘echō’. It can mean quite a few things including…
‘to have possession of the mind’ and…
‘those joined by the bonds of marriage’.
That’s searching me right now. Where are our thoughts, what is possessing our minds today, are they on the world or on Jesus?
Do we live as though we are joined in marriage to the King of kings and Lord of lords or as though we’re joined to the world.
Friends, let’s be those are willing to leave all and follow Jesus, however hard it may be…
‘If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.’
May we find our treasure in heaven and in knowing God and His great love to sinners…
‘Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD’
