We Walk by Faith…

‘We walk by faith’, not by sight’…

What a blessing if we are walking by faith friends.

But how do we walk by faith?

To answer that, let’s take a look at the Greek word – pistis – translated as faith and see how else it translates.

pistis’- “moral conviction, persuasion, reliance, especially reliance upon Christ for salvation, assurance, belief, fidelity.”

Firstly there needs to be that beginning to walk by faith, that CONVICTION by the Holy Spirit of our sins and our need of a Saviour.

Then that PERSUASION of our need to make us respond to that conviction…

‘the LOVE of CHRIST constraineth us;’

Friends, we only ‘love him, because he first loved us.’

Then there’s that coming to Christ in faith, RELYING upon Him for our salvation and looking to Him by faith for that blessed assurance.

‘All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.’

Then there’s FIDELITY, that following after Christ, that seeking to walk in all His ways.

‘If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.’

This following of Jesus isn’t a one off thing friends, it’s not saying a prayer then going to church regularly and doing a few good deeds here and there.

It’s following Jesus who IS The Word from what’s recorded IN the word.

It’s seeking God’s will in our lives and following Christ’s example all day, each and every day.

It’s following, walking in His footsteps BY FAITH.

But HOW?

How do we continue to walk by faith?

Maybe have you tried and tried and you just fail time and time again.

Ah Friend, it’s not about the TRYING, it’s about RELYING!

It’s walking with our eyes of faith fixed on Jesus TRUSTING Him to help us.

Jesus said…

‘I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.’

Then walk Friend with your eyes fixed on Jesus, He will light up the way.

Fix your eyes upon Jesus, He will lead the way.

Fix your eyes upon Jesus, He will give you the wisdom for the way.

Fix your eyes upon Jesus, He will give you the patience for the way.

Fix your eyes upon Jesus, He will freely give you every grace you need to walk this way, for His honor and glory…

…IF instead of TRYING to be like Jesus you RELY upon God to make you more like Jesus.

‘Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.’

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, Thus saith the Lord.

I'm a Christian wife and Mum of two. I love to study my Bible and create God centered items for myself and our shop. I also enjoy a variety of crafts, reading and baking. We are all quite creative so our house is often a hive of creativity! I have several chronic illnesses including Lupus and Fibromyalgia so I am very thankful that I have been given a creative mind to help fill the hours when I don't have the energy for anything else.

  1. Love you dear sister! Sure do miss you on Instagram, but I’m so grateful for the email so that I can still keep up with your beautiful devotional writing. I love this reminder to rely and not try! That is the Gospel of Jesus Christ! That is Grace! And I need to hear it every day and be reminded, until I see him face-to-face! 🙂

    1. You too my dear sister friend. Yes, I need to be constantly reminded as well. It’s grace, amazing grace, each step of the way,
‘I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.’
