Rejoice in the Lord…

The first half of this verse really stood out to me this morning…

‘Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.’

The Israel of God is each ransomed sinner, each child of God…let each child of God rejoice in him that made him.

Is Israel’s God your God Friend? Then let us rejoice!

Let’s…

‘Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.’

This word translated as rejoice is a verb, it’s something we should be doing Friends!

”Let Israel rejoice in him that made him:..’

What are we to rejoice in?

In Him that made us.

I looked up the other meanings for the word – `asah – translated here as ‘in him that made,’ and it also means fulfill, holds, hold a feast, keeps, prepares, provides, works.

Friends, let’s rejoice in the only One Who can truly fulfill us and the only One in whom we can find true fulfillment.

‘For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.’

Let’s rejoice in the One that holds us and will never let us go.

‘All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.’

Let’s rejoice in the One that holds a feast and invites us to eat and drink and be filled with the Bread of Life.

‘And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.’

Let’s rejoice in Him that keeps us by His almighty power, if only we’ll lean upon Him and trust Him to do so, rather than striving in our own strength and wisdom.

‘Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.’

Let’s rejoice in the One that is day by day preparing us for a never ending eternity with Himself.

‘In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.’

Let’s rejoice in Him that provides for us and has promised to provide our every need.

‘But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.’

Let’s rejoice in the One who will continue to work in us and in our lives for His honour and glory and for our good.

‘Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:’

Friends, we have a good, good God, let’s rejoice in all that He is and all that He does and let’s be joyful in our King, that His great name might be glorified.

‘This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.’
