By love!

When I was a girl I was the reluctant one when it came to chores.

As time went on I learnt to do them without a fuss but inside I was still grumbling.

Now I look back and wonder how I missed the beauty that’s to be found in serving (although there’s still chores I don’t enjoy) but what I’ve learnt is that mindset makes all the difference.

My thoughts today have gone in particular to any of you struggling in the thick of a busy season.

Friends we don’t HAVE to do things for others, we GET to and that shift in mindset can change everything.

If we’ve been born again, we’re freed from the bondage of the ‘law’, from the bondage of the world’s expectations that say we HAVE TO do or be a certain way. Instead, we’ve been freed to serve BY LOVE…

‘For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.’

‘BY love serve one another!!’

That little word BY is translated from the Greek word ‘dia’ and is ‘a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act;’ it can also be translated ‘always, because of, for sake of and through.’

Friends, if we belong to Christ we can serve by love because HIS love lives in us.

If we surrender our own feelings and expectations we can serve through this channel of love, the channel of Christ’s love that dwells IN US and because of this love we can serve cheerfully and we can sacrifice for others THROUGH this Great Love that laid down its life for us!!

Then friends, not only THROUGH the love of Christ that is in us but because of love for what He did FOR us we can then serve by love…

‘With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:’ for the sake of love to Christ for all He did and does for us.

When we do things for Jesus it makes ALL the difference. So friends, let’s be seeking for grace to live our lives FOR Christ, THROUGH Christ and His love that dwells in us….

‘Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.’

I'm a Christian wife and Mum of two. I love to study my Bible and create God centered items for myself and our shop. I also enjoy a variety of crafts, reading and baking. We are all quite creative so our house is often a hive of creativity! I have several chronic illnesses including Lupus and Fibromyalgia so I am very thankful that I have been given a creative mind to help fill the hours when I don't have the energy for anything else.
