Shelter…

Life isn’t always easy, troubles come and for the child of God there’s also the attacks of Satan…

BUT there’s also the loving care of our Heavenly Father and like David did, we can put our trust in Him and say with David…

“How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.”

We can trust in God, we can shelter in His everlasting arms in the storms and trials, we can rest in Him because His lovingkindness is excellent!

Let’s dig a little deeper.

How excellent – yaqar – valuable, bright, clear, costly, excellent, honorable, precious.

Is thy lovingkindness – checed – pity, beauty, favour, goodness, merciful kindness.

Put their trust – chacah – flee for protection, confide in, have hope, make refuge, put trust.

Under the shadow – tsel – shade, defense, shadow

Of thy wings – kanaph – an edge or extremity, specifically a wing of a bird or wing of an army.

Friends, in the trials and temptations how precious is God’s merciful goodness…

Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee;’

How excellent His beauty…

‘How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!’

How valuable His merciful kindness…

‘For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.’

And Friends, because of this excellent lovingkindness, the children of men can flee to God for protection, they can shelter in His love and make His mercy their refuge.

And the one I love the most, we can have hope in the defence of His army!!

Friends, we don’t need to fight alone!!

We have this refuge, this defence because of the excellency of God’s lovingkindness.

‘Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.’

We can flee to Him trusting Him to be our defense when the enemy attacks because Friend, the enemy is stronger than me and stronger than you but NOT stronger than us if we’re sheltering in God, trusting Him to shadow us under His protection.

‘But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.’

So whatever hard thing is in your life right now, flee to God and shelter under His wings, rest in His love and trust in His goodness.

I'm a Christian wife and Mum of two. I love to study my Bible and create God centered items for myself and our shop. I also enjoy a variety of crafts, reading and baking. We are all quite creative so our house is often a hive of creativity! I have several chronic illnesses including Lupus and Fibromyalgia so I am very thankful that I have been given a creative mind to help fill the hours when I don't have the energy for anything else.
