On a journey?

Jesus said… ‘I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.’

The light of life! Are you following it Friend?

Jesus is the only light that lights the path that leads to eternal life, all others lead to death.

So, how does Jesus light up the way?

Firstly, through His word.

If we were going on a journey at night in a way we’d never walked before we would need at least two things. A torch and a map to show us where to go.

The map is of no use to us if we have no light to read it by.

We need the same things as we seek to follow Jesus.

We have God’s word, the Bible to show us the way like a map but first we have to pick up the map and open it and read it but not as a task to be done but to earnestly seek Jesus there because without Christ, the Light of the world to shine upon the pages, opening the eyes of our understanding by the Spirit, we will not be able to see to follow its instructions.

Then once the light is shining on those pages, we have to follow the directions and that takes submission and obedience.

Friends, we don’t just look at the path that the light lights up, we have to walk in it, constantly stepping into that pool of light in front of us.

Likewise we don’t just look to Jesus once for salvation, we have to follow Him. Seeking Him in the Word, stepping into those truths and directions because…

‘Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.’ and Jesus IS the Word.’

‘And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.’

Friends, Jesus is on every page, just ask God to open your eyes to ‘behold wondrous things out of thy law.’ and to give you the grace, strength, wisdom and desire you need to seek Him there, walk in those truths and truly follow Him.

I'm a Christian wife and Mum of two. I love to study my Bible and create God centered items for myself and our shop. I also enjoy a variety of crafts, reading and baking. We are all quite creative so our house is often a hive of creativity! I have several chronic illnesses including Lupus and Fibromyalgia so I am very thankful that I have been given a creative mind to help fill the hours when I don't have the energy for anything else.
