There’s verses you feel as though you’ve known all your life then you read them again and God shows you something new: don’t you just love that?!
I’ve been thinking about these verses a lot the last few weeks after God opened my eyes to something obvious but that I’d never seen so clearly before…
‘Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’
We’ve got a command to come then a promise followed by another command and another promise and then a reason why we should come.
It’s the last sentence, the reason why that I wanted to share about…
‘For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’
Have you ever read that and thought my burden certainly doesn’t feel light?
Friends, if we’re weary and heavy laden Jesus has said come and receive this promised rest.
He’s said be joined with me and find rest so why is the hard sometimes still so hard?
If Jesus has promised then it’s true and if it’s not true in our lives then there’s a reason!
Friends, the yoke is only hard if we pull against it and the burden is only heavy if we try to bear it alone or pick up burdens that were never ours to carry!
Simple!
Have you come with your burden to Jesus?
Are you walking with Him or pulling against Him?!
If you’re struggling then ask God to open your eyes and then search your heart and see where you’re going your own way or not trusting because His yoke IS easy and His burden IS light!
